This blog is an offering to Sri Sathya Sai Baba on the first anniversary of His Mahasamadhi. Swami (as He was known to many) left His body on 24th April, 2011.

As a mark of respect and gratitude for the role He played in our lives, Sai students are invited to share your perspectives on what it meant to be His student and how He has continued to shape your lives.

If you studied for at least an year at one of His educational institutions* during His lifetime, thereby enjoying numerous occasions for personal interaction with Him and/or indirect guidance, I hope you will join me in offering this tribute to Him.

  1. just the right thing to do . congratulations for trying to connect all the past students.I was (….? am)swami’s student from 1981 -1986 This was the time when we used to travel frm ananthapur to Puttaparthy almost every weekend except durin the exams .unfortunately there was no postgrad there then so i had to get back to a university and complete my education. But that (6 yrs) period was the golden period of my life .this period taught me and prepared me for my life ,by giving correct direction in my thinking ,today i am apprecited by everyone for my punctuality, honesty, cosistency etc. I think swami has taught us a very different way of looking at things .and this process was very subtle. Swami was pro women’ education as i still remember he saying that if he educates a boy ,only one person is educted but if one girl is educted entire family is educted. Whatever i learnt in those 6 yrs ,i am trying to impart to my two teenaged daughters , and i am able to see the difference in them and most of the other children in today’s world.I was fortunate indeed !!!!

    • It’s interesting that most of us call ourselves his students, not ‘ex-students’ 🙂

      • Definitely, we are His students and we are proud of it. So we would continue to be called His students, not Alumni. We are alumni of the college, not Him.

  2. Would you like to know a rare objective experience with Swami and may be what is best for him NOW? Below is a book written by a devotee who dedicated her life and stayed in puttaparthi on personal instructions of Swami against many controversies till his demise…? Read My Rama My Swami on http://www.nandiyniy.org
